WE ARE FUTURE ANTIQUE

Preserving Sound System Culture. Building Underground Community in Nashville.

Future Antique is an event production company and sound system collective based in Nashville. We're dedicated to preserving authentic sound system culture while building a sustainable underground music community. Our focus is simple: proper bass, quality curation, and creating spaces where people can experience music the way it was meant to be heard.

How It Started

We started Future Antique in 2020 because Nashville's underground bass music scene needed something different. The city was growing fast, bringing in new venues and promoters, but a lot of what made underground music special was getting lost in the shuffle. Proper sound system culture, the kind with bass you feel in your chest and a community that cares about the music, not just the night out, was hard to find.

So we did what any dedicated music enthusiasts would do: we bought a pair of Cerwin Vega folded horn subs and started throwing our own parties. Warehouses, DIY spaces, anywhere we could set up a proper rig and let the bass breathe. We wanted to bring back what sound system culture is really about. Not the polished club experience with bottle service, but raw energy, quality sound, and people who appreciate both.

What began with a small team and one pair of subs has evolved into something we're genuinely proud of. We've proven that you can maintain underground values while building something sustainable. Quality doesn't have to mean exclusive. Good curation doesn't have to mean pretentious. And respecting the history of sound system culture doesn't mean you can't push it forward.

What We Do

🎵

Event Production & Curation

We go beyond simply booking DJs and opening doors. Every event is carefully curated to showcase artists who understand bass culture and bring something real to the table. From intimate warehouse sessions to larger underground gatherings, we create spaces where music enthusiasts can experience sound the way it's meant to be felt: through your chest, not just your ears.

Sound System Rental & Setup

Our sound system isn't just equipment. It's an instrument. Built around vintage Turbosound TMS-4 mid-high cabinets and massive Cerwin Vega folded horn subs, we deliver the kind of bass pressure and clarity that most modern systems can't touch. We handle everything from acoustics to power distribution, ensuring the sound hits exactly how it should.

🎬

A/V Production

Sound is our foundation, but we know that immersive experiences require more. We provide full audio-visual production including lighting design, projection mapping, and visual performance art that complements the sonic experience without overpowering it. The visuals serve the music, never the other way around.

👥

Artist Development & Support

We're invested in building Nashville's underground scene for the long haul. That means supporting local talent, providing mentorship to emerging artists, and creating opportunities for selectors who are pushing boundaries. If you're doing something genuine in the bass, dubstep, grime, or experimental electronic space, we want to work with you.

Sound System Philosophy

Sound system culture has roots that run deep, from Jamaican sound clashes to UK rave culture to the bass bins of Bristol. It's about more than just playing music loud. It's about respecting the frequencies, understanding how bass moves through space and bodies, and recognizing that a proper sound system is a living thing that requires knowledge, care, and craftsmanship.

Analog Heritage, Digital Innovation

We run vintage analog gear because those engineers understood bass in ways modern designers often don't. Folded horn subs from the '80s and '90s move air differently. They don't just produce frequencies, they create physical experiences. But we're not purists stuck in the past. We integrate modern digital signal processing, power management, and control systems to get the best of both worlds.

Bass Pressure & Frequency Balance

Any system can be loud, but not every system can deliver balanced, controlled bass pressure that you feel in your chest without destroying your eardrums. We tune our systems for each space, measuring frequencies, adjusting crossovers, and positioning speakers to create an immersive sound field where every element (sub-bass, mid-bass, mids, and highs) sits in perfect harmony.

Respect for the Music

We built this system for bass music: dubstep, drum & bass, grime, UK bass, experimental electronic, and everything in between. These genres demand systems that can reproduce sub-bass frequencies accurately while maintaining the clarity needed for intricate percussion and vocal details. That's why we obsess over every component, every cable, every connection.

Community Over Commerce

Sound system culture has always been about community first. It's not about bottle service and VIP tables. It's about everyone experiencing the same thing together. Standing in front of a stack, feeling the bass move through you, connecting with the people around you through shared sonic experience. That ethos guides everything we do.

Building Community & Culture

The underground scene isn't just about the music. It's about the people, the connections, and the culture that forms when like-minded individuals come together around a shared passion. Nashville's music scene has incredible depth and diversity, but the underground electronic and bass music communities have historically lacked the infrastructure and support they deserve.

We're working to change that. Through our events, we're creating safe, inclusive spaces where everyone (regardless of background, identity, or experience level) can connect with underground music culture. We prioritize accessibility, community safety, and creating an environment where the music and the people take center stage.

Inclusive Spaces

Everyone's welcome if they come with respect. We have zero tolerance for harassment, discrimination, or anything that threatens the safety and comfort of our community. The dance floor is for everyone.

Local First

While we bring in touring artists when it makes sense, we prioritize supporting Nashville's local talent. This city has incredible selectors and producers who deserve platforms and opportunities to develop their craft.

Education & Mentorship

We share knowledge freely. Whether it's sound system setup, DJ techniques, music production, or event organization, we believe in helping the next generation learn and grow. A rising tide lifts all boats.

Sustainable Growth

We're not trying to blow up overnight. We're building something that lasts: a sustainable underground scene that grows organically, maintains its values, and continues serving the community for years to come.

Where We're Headed

The future of Future Antique is about expansion without dilution. We're growing our sound system, building deeper connections with artists and communities, and creating more opportunities for underground music to thrive in Nashville and beyond.

We're working on expanding our equipment arsenal with more vintage speaker cabinets, investing in better acoustic treatment and measurement tools, and developing relationships with venues that understand what we're trying to build. We want to create a touring sound system that can bring proper bass culture to cities across the region.

But growth means nothing if we lose sight of why we started. No matter how big the events get or how many speakers we add to the rig, we'll always prioritize quality over quantity, community over profit, and underground values over mainstream appeal. This is our promise to everyone who's supported us, danced with us, and believed in what we're building.

Future Antique is more than a brand. It's a commitment to preserving the past while building the future of sound system culture.
